Regardless of word count, all NaNo participants are winners

I started out NaNoWriMo with a goal of 50K like everyone else.

What I didn’t realize was the project I am working on isn’t really a 50K kind of project. So I lowered my word count and decided to embrace the NaNoWriMo Rebel spirit.

It took me all month to win, but I finally finished today with a total word count of 10,059 words, just over my goal of 10K.

I think this will be the last time I pick writing in the non-fiction category for my NaNo project. I didn’t realize how hard it would be to get my word count in!

So I learned some great lessons for next time. Plus, there is always Camp NaNo right around the corner in April!

I hope all my other NaNo buddies came out winners. And hey, if you didn’t win you did a great thing, you got started! You jotted down your ideas and started a writing project and I think that should count as a win!
